...with a vengeance!
Who doesn't love summer? Kids get out of school and look forward to weeks of playing with friends, going on family vacation, and having a great time. Adults too, anticipate their much needed vacation to the beach or that 4th of July picnic with friends. Summer is hailed as a time of fun, fellowship, and... heat.
This summer has seen record heat throughout the country, and it only looks to continue for the weeks ahead. Here's some tips to stay safe while having fun!

- Avoid the heat of the day whenever possible. Early morning and evening outdoor activities are best!
- Use sunblock. Regardless of age or skin color, grab some SPF30 (or higher) and get it on!
- If the heat of the day is unavoidable, a tight-woven, lightweight, long-sleeve shirt is the best bet for avoiding harmful rays.
- Protect your head. Desert dwellers don't wear turbans because they're a fashion statement.....
- Sunglasses are a must, preferably those that block harmful UV and UA rays. Cool factor optional.
- SPF15 lip balm... even for the guys!
- Stay hydrated. Drink water, juice, or sports drinks BEFORE you get thirsty. Avoid caffeine and alcohol which tend towards dehydration.
- If you have a pool, enjoy it!
- Watering the flowers? A little water war (within your watering limits, of course) with the kiddos will help them cool down, too.
- Take shelter. For some, carrying an umbrella in summer is the way to go. Naturally, we recommend some extended outdoor time in the safety of a gazebo. ;-)
